Urban Roots, directed by Detroit-native Mark MacInnis is a documentary that tells the powerful story of a small group of unique individuals involved in Detroit’s urban agricultural movement.

WHAT (is it?)

Urban Roots is a documentary film from Tree Media (11th Hour) following the urban farming phenomenon in Detroit. Urban Roots is a timely, moving and inspiring work that speaks to a nation grappling with collapsed industrial towns and the need to forge a sustainable and prosperous future. EarthTones founder and Detroit native Frank Fitzpatrick composed the score and created the film’s soundtrack as a way to give back to his birth place.

WHO (does it serve?)

Tree Media has teamed up with a number of organizations to encourage continued growth in the urban farming movement. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of the film and soundtrack will help fund the Urban Roots/Field of Dreams program, which is helping to put farms in schools within the Los Angeles and Detroit metropolitan areas.

Urban Roots is available for purchase on DVD at www.UrbanRootsAmerica.com. The EarthTones Store will also begin selling the Urban Roots DVD and soundtrack in the coming weeks! Proceeds from the DVD sales will help to fund the Farms in Schools program.
