“No matter how you slice it, music heals us.”
Often, when I bring up the idea of music as a modality or alternative therapy in company of medical professionals and scientists, they roll their eyes at me. Fortunately, this wasn’t the case with the experts in health and technology who attended my workshop at Singularity University’s Exponential Medicine Conference. Still, we have a long way to go to have music better understood, and more fully appreciated and embraced in the areas we need it most – like healthcare and personal wellness.
Music is a rich resource for wellness that is waiting to be tapped. The reason for it’s under appreciation and lack of utilization is not one of cost, as many claim. It is really an issue of values and perceptions around the benefits of music and the incredible power in can yield in healing and preventive health programs.
